MUZAFFARABAD, July 7: The AJK Electricity Department has generated a record revenue of Rs1,800 million during the just-ended financial year, the department’s top official said on Sunday.

Chief Engineer Sardar Mohammad Altaf Khan told reporters at a function that the government had fixed a target of Rs1,700 million for the department, but the collection exceeded that target by Rs100 million.

“This is a record revenue collection and the electricity department staff rightly deserve a pat on the back,” he said.

During the year 2000-01, the department had recovered Rs1,600 million, which was also more than the target set for that fiscal, the chief engineer recalled.
