MUZAFFARABAD, June 29: Indian and Pakistani troops traded fire in different sectors along the Line of Control on the second consecutive day on Saturday in which one civilian was injured in Azad Kashmir, official sources said.
Indian troops, sources said, started shelling with machine- guns and mortars in Leepa valley, 100 kilometres southeast of here, at about 8am without any provocation.
The shelling continued after short intervals until afternoon, injuring one Abdul Majid, son of Lassa, in Chanian village. He was admitted to local military hospital.
Pakistani troops returned fire in Leepa valley to halt enemy shelling, sources said.
They said both sides exchanged intermittent fire in Forward Kahuta sector in the southern district of Bagh for about two hours from 12.15pm, but no casualties were reported.
Heavy “post-to-post” shelling was reported from Kel sector in Neelum valley, in northeast of Muzaffarabad.
Indian troops also lobbed some mortar shells at Zero Point of the Lesva bypass, fortunately no one was hurt there.
