MINGORA, March 29 Taliban allowed on Sunday cable operators to show news and Islamic channels in the violence-ravaged Swat valley.

The cable operators had met Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan on Saturday and apprised him of the grievances of the general public owing to ban on TV channels, particularly restrictions on foreign and national news programmes.

Taliban spokesman lifted ban on showing of TV channels, saying the operators were allowed to show only news and Islamic channels. Muslim Khan told journalists by phone that conditional permission was given to the cable operators.

He said that ban on airing vulgar programmes would remain intact. He said those channels would be allowed, which aired programmes in accordance to Islamic conjunctions.

BODY RECOVERED A bullet-riddled body of a private school principal was found in Baidara area of Matta tehsil on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Shah Khesro son of Sherin of Bara Drushkhela, was kidnapped by unidentified persons from Baidara area on Saturday night.

The motive behind the crime was yet to be ascertained. The family members have not registered case against the kidnappers.

TRANSFER Qazi Sajjadur Rehman of Kabal tehsil was transferred and replaced by Qazi Omar Ali Khan of tehsil Baharain on Sunday.

The people of Bahrain were told that they could submit their cases in the qazi court of Khwazakhela. Qazi Omar Ali Khan took charge as Kabal qazi on Sunday. A new qazi would soon be posted in Bahrain tehsil, official sources said.
