HYDERABAD, June 28: Hearing in the Daniel Pearl kidnapping and murder case was adjourned to Saturday as Ahmed Saeed Sheikh, father of the principal accused, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, did not appear in the court to depose as defence witness.

Senior defence lawyer, Abdul Waheed Katpar, produced a medical certificate and informed the judge that the witness was indisposed and unable to attend the court.

Rai Basheer Ahmed, the other defence lawyer of the co-accused, Salman Saqib, Fahad Naseem and Adil Sheikh, intends to produce some documentary evidence during Saturday’s proceedings.

On Thursday, Raoof Sheikh, maternal uncle of the principal accused, testified before the court as defence witness.

HAUL: the police on Friday recovered 240 kgs of charas and arrested an alleged drug trafficker, Abdul Nabi Brohi, from the Abdullah Chawero village in the limits of the Jamshoro police, reports APP.

Jamshoro police were tipped off that a huge quantity of charas had been dumped in a house in the village. So they conducted a raid and recovered the charas.
