ISLAMABAD June 26: President Gen Musharraf on Wednesday reiterated his government’s resolve to hold free and fair polls.

He was talking to a delegation of seven-party National Alliance led by veteran politician Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi which called on him at the chief executive’s secretariat here.

He reminded the political parties, supportive of his reforms agenda, their duty to continue their support in protecting the reforms against any attempt of reversing them.

The president refuted reports of any deal having been cut with either Benazir Bhutto or Nawaz Sharif. “Those who have looted the national exchequer and transferred the money abroad will not be allowed to play with the fate of the nation again,” he remarked.

He said neither there was any plan nor he intended to meet any of these leaders.

All political parties will be free to contest the next polls within the framework carved out for them, he said, adding, those who have been convicted by the courts on the basis of evidence will not be spared.
