KARACHI, June 26: It seems that the higher authorities of the provincial education department feel so unsecured that even sitting in their offices at the first floor of well-guarded Tughlaq House (Sindh Secretariat), they have blocked all the corridors by erecting iron gates which remain locked almost whole the day.

Nobody is allowed to enter the offices of the department and the peons open the lock only after getting clearance from the authorities.

Because of this, a large number of teachers and other employees of the department from Karachi and interior of the province have to wait for hours daily outside the iron cage in the corridors in front of other offices.

The iron bars and gates were erected few months back and since then the visitors, most of them summoned by the department itself, had been facing hardships. On Wednesday also a big crowd was seen at the main gate of the cage since morning and after 1pm some people were allowed to go inside.

The people said they had also reported the situation to provincial education minister Prof Anita Ghulam Ali who is reported to be unhappy over the erection of iron gates.

Some of the employees of the department posted at the secretariat also complained that sometimes they also face similar situation.—PPI
