KARACHI, June 22: A young girl and a young man were shot dead in the city on Saturday.

A young girl was hit by a bullet in her Nazimabad home while she was alone and died before she could be given medical aid.

The police quoted the family as saying that Ambreen, aged 21, was to get married on Sunday. Her family members went shopping leaving her alone in the house. When they returned, they found Ambreen lying in a pool of blood and rushed her to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. Doctors said she suffered a single bullet injury to her face, which proved fatal.

The police believed that a stray bullet hit her causing instantaneous death.

Ambreen was among five children of her parents: three younger brothers and two sister. The family did not get a case registered with the police as they wanted to avoid police and court.

A young man was shot dead in Korangi.

The police said that Mohammed Kamran, aged 30, resident of Zaman Town, was passing through T-Area in Korangi on his motorcycle, when armed men intercepted him, shot him and escaped. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The police said Kamran was brother of Rizwan, a policeman posted at Landhi police station. Rizwan had been receiving threatening phone calls for the past few days. The police said the possibility of the involvement of those making the threatening calls could not be ruled out in the killing. The police registered a case.
