HYDERABAD, Feb 2 The vice-chancellor of the Sindh Agriculture University, Dr Abdul Qadir Mughal, has ordered revival of the system of granting financial assistance to university`s employees and grant of promotions, which has been withheld for many years and reportedly the main cause of unrest among the employees.

A spokesman for the SAU Employees` Welfare Association in a statement issued here on Monday said that the vice-chancellor had approved a grant of Rs50,000 for the heirs of the deceased employees who had died during the performance of their duties.

The vice-chancellor has also approved house building loan worth Rs3.7 million for 486 employees of Grade-1 to Garde-16 and promoted 75 employees to the next grades on the basis of seniority and on the recommendation of the departmental promotion committee. Services of 23 contingency employees have also been regularized.

SU The vice-chancellor of the University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, visited different institutes at Allama I.I. Kazi campus, Jamshoro on Monday.

He also visited the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and Institute of Commerce. Talking to students, he said that the university had a computerized attendance system and had also established a quality enhancement cell.

The vice-chancellor exhorted the students to attend classes regularly.

ENCROACHMENTS The District Coordination Officer of Hyderabad (DCO), Aftab Ahmed Khatri, has warned the encroachers to remove their goods from the roads and avoid doing business on the roads failing which their articles and goods will be confiscated.

He was speaking at a meeting at his office here on Monday which discussed measures to remove encroachments and ensure uninterrupted traffic flow in the urban areas of Hyderabad.

The DCO formed taluka-wise anti-encroachment teams headed by TMO concerned and directed the district police and traffic police, to extend their full support to anti-encroachment teams for removing encroachments from the main roads.

The DCO urged the nazims of union councils and the office-bearers of different trade organisations either to cooperate with the anti-encroachment teams or convince the encroachers to remove their goods from the roads. He directed anti-encroachment teams to launch a campaign against the encroachers with immediate effect and give detailed reports to him on weekly basis.

Responding to problem raised in the meeting about unauthorised Suzuki stands everywhere in Hyderabad city and Latifabad, the DCO directed TMOs Hyderabad city and Latifabad to allow only one Suzuki stand and not to permit any transport organisations for frequent movement of their vehicles in the city and Latifabad without prior permission of the district administration.

Mr Khatri said that encroachments on roads were the main cause of traffic jam and even ambulances remained stranded on roads.

He said that some time it also results in loss of life and district government Hyderabad would not allow any individual or organisation to disturb traffic flow.

EDO revenue Hyderabad, DDOs revenue, taluka nazim city, TMOs of Latifabad and city and other police and traffic officers also attended the meeting.
