FAISALABAD, June 18: The executive committee of the Punjab Bar Council has demanded President Pervez Musharraf to direct the authorities concerned for the implementation of his orders about setting up a high court bench in Faisalabad.

In a statement here on Tuesday, PBC executive committee chairman Malik Amjad Husain and other members said the District Bar Association, Faisalabad, was assured by the president during a referendum meeting that a high court bench would be set up in Faisalabad. But no step has so far been taken in this regard.

They urged the president to take cognizance of the situation and ask the authorities concerned for setting up the bench.

Meanwhile, Toba Tek Singh district Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq has said a resolution would be adopted by the district council demanding setting up of a bench of the Lahore High Court in Faisalabad.

Talking to the District Bar Association here on Tuesday, he said the bench was the need of the hour as the people of Faisalabad have been facing innumerable problems to get justice.

He said President Gen Musharraf had assured the people of Faisalabad, especially lawyers, of the setting up of a high court bench.

Mr Ashfaq said all possible efforts would be made to achieve the goal.

COURSES: The Fauji Foundation has announced that technical courses of 40-week duration for the wives and daughters of ex-servicemen will be held in the Fauji Foundation Vocational Centre, Haseeb Shaheed Colony, from August 12.

Last date for submission of forms is June 30. The participants will be given Rs275 per month stipend.

However, a civilian who wants to participate in the course will be charged Rs300 per month fee.
