KARACHI, June 16: The traffic police is studying a feasibility report to introduce “smart” cards for the purpose of driving licence.

According to the traffic police sources, with the introduction of these cards it will be possible to record various traffic violations on one’s driving licence, which if introduced will be an effective check on over-speeding, etc.

The traffic police department has also carried out a feasibility study to install close circuit cameras at the driving licence branch to curb malpractice and bring transparency in the procedures.

As soon as funds for traffic improvement are released, it would be utilized for purchase of these cameras, a traffic police official said.
