KARACHI, June 16: Seventeen vehicles — eight cars and nine motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, police said.

Two cars were hijacked. Six others were stolen.

Two motorcycles were hijacked. Seven others were stolen.

Police also claimed on Sunday to have recovered three cars and six motorcycles in the city.

SUICIDE: A young woman committed suicide in an Edhi centre for women in Buffer Zone.

Police said Nadia Shazia Akhtar, aged 30, had been under treatment for the past two years at Bilqis Edhi Woman Centre in Buffer Zone.

On Sunday morning she hanged herself with the string of her shalwar from the window grill of the ward she was in. Her father, Hasan Khan, and her brother brought her to the centre two years back. Police described Shazia as mentally sick.
