KARACHI: Haqiqi man shot dead

KARACHI, June 16: An activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement was shot dead over wall-chalking in New Karachi on Sunday.

Police said Rizwan Baig, aged 21, an activist of the Haqiqi, with other party workers, was writing slogans on walls in Bilal Colony, sector 5-E, New Karachi, when an older brother of a police constable, Safdar Shah, a resident of the locality, objected to it. Following this arguments took place between Rizwan and Safdar which led to firing from both sides.

Rizwan was injured in the firing. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Police said the dead man was identified from a diary found in his pocket. Safdar Shah, a constable posted at Sharifabad police station, also used his official gun in the firing.

“Safdar’s nephew was also among the young men writing slogans on walls,” police said.

A duty officer at New Karachi police station said Safdar had been taken into custody.

An unidentified young man was killed in Pirabad.

Police said the body of an unidentified young man, who was in his mid-30s, was found near Qasba Mor in Pirabad. He had stab injuries to his abdomen.

The body was thrown from a moving vehicle near Qasba Mor.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem. It has been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification.
