NLF plea to Musharraf

Published June 14, 2002

LAHORE, June 13: The National Labour Federation has urged President Pervez Musharraf to ensure solution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN Resolutions.

Speaking at a news conference here on Thursday, NLF’s Punjab President Muhammad Zaman Sherani, General Secretary Mirza Muhammad Zaman and office-bearers of affiliated trade unions said that the President should not compromise on the UN Resolutions during the talks with India.

They said that the workers would not tolerate any bargaining on the Kashmir issue under any circumstances.

The NLF leaders also said that they would participate in the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal Conference on Kashmir to be held at the Minar-i-Pakistan on June 16.

They condemned the murder of Kashmiri leader Abdul Ghani Lone and arrest of former Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Gilani and other leaders. Such steps could not suppress the freedom movement in the occupied Kashmir, they said.
