KARACHI, June 11: Unrest prevails among employees of the North Karachi Town as they are being asked by their superiors to perform duties not part of their jobs.

The gardeners are being asked to clean the roads, whereas it is the duty of the sweepers and other staff.

The gardens and the parks in the area are being deserted due to lack of staff and necessary maintenance. The staff deputed in such parks were re-called and asked to report to the Town office some two months back.

“Sick employees, some of whom have dust allergy have also not been spared and, on complaining were misbehaved with by the Town Nazim,” complained a sick employee.

The authorities and elected councillors are not in control of the sweepers and other related. Therefore, the parks’ are being forced to perform jobs other than their designated duties.

Attempts to verify these allegation by this scribe went in vain as no one was available in the Town office.—APP
