KOHAT, Aug 21 The district administration imposed section 144 and beefed up security after the killing of an army officer in Kohat on Thursday.

Quick response force comprising Frontier Constabulary, commandos and regular policemen were deployed in all parts of the district to avoid any untoward incident.

There were reports that foreign terrorists and militants from the restive Kurram Agency and nearby Darra Adamkhel had entered Kohat district for carrying out target killing.

A senior doctor was killed a few days ago in his clinic in broad daylight in KDA Township while a number of music centers had been blown up in explosions in the main bazaar after which police forcibly closed down all CD centers in the bazaar to avoid collateral damage. So far nobody had been arrested in any such case.

Police had killed an alleged terrorist in an encounter a few days ago on Kohat-Parachinar road. A constable was also injured in the encounter. Some officials blamed the same group for the killing of army officer.

Kohat is the nerve centre of the security forces where situated the headquarters of armys 9 Div, which was busy in fighting against the militants in Waziristan and is now also handling the battles in Kurram Agency and Hangu region.
