TAXILA, March 10 PPP additional secretary information Rawalpindi chapter Zafar Hashmi has said the Murree declaration is a victory of democratic forces in the country.

Talking to media persons here on Monday, he hailed the document signed by the PPP and PML-N to form coalition government in order to implement the Charter of Democracy.

He said both Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif had shown political maturity and opened a new chapter in the political history of the country regarding empowerment of parliament.

He said the clear message sent out by the two parties was that they were committed to fulfilling the dream of the masses that parliament was the supreme authority, adding no military dictator has the right to scrap the mandate of the people.

He also lauded the efforts of the top leadership of PPP and PML-N to resolve the issue of deposed judges, adding both the parties should take bold decisions to restore democracy in the country.

In reply to a question, he said the agenda of the new coalition government should be to end the role of military in politics, ensure provincial autonomy and provision of relief to the masses.

He said both the leaders had proved that their parties were sincere and committed to supremacy of constitution and parliament. He said it was a big achievement in the political history of the country that the two erstwhile bitter opponents had buried their past differences and moved forward to restore the 1973 constitution.

He said people had lots of expectations from both the parties not to repeat their past mistakes and bury the politics of revenge. He said it was a chance for both parties to create new history and avail the opportunity to fulfil their promises.
