HYDERABAD, April 29: Sindh Law Minister Abdul Qadir Halepoto has called upon the people to vote in large number in the referendum to ensure the continuity of reforms introduced by President Gen Pervez Musharraf.

Speaking at public meetings at Saleh Halepoto and Moosa Khatyan villages near here on Monday, the minister said that the greatest contribution of the president to democracy was the devolution of power at grass root level.

He told the Nazims and councillors present on the occasion that as a new system, the local bodies system might have some flaws, and added if they had any proposals, they should send them to the concerned ministry for consideration.

Referring to the problems being faced by people of Sindh, Mr Halepoto said that the president, during his recent referendum campaign, had not only given an package to growers, which included relief in agricultural loans, but had also promised to resolve the water problem.

He said that projects would be undertaken by the government after referendum to improve quality of life of the people.

He said that to achieve important objectives hard decisions had to be taken which later changed the destiny of nations.

The minister called upon the people to vote for President Musharraf in the ensuing referendum to ensure the development and progress of the country.

Earlier, welcoming the minister, Abid Bachani, taluka Nazim, Tando Allahyar, predicted that people in large number would vote for the president.

COMPUTER SOFTWARE EXHIBITION: The commissioner of Income Tax, Hyderabad, Ilyas Shaikh, inaugurated the computer software exhibition of income tax laws at the secretariat of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Rahmatullah Malik of Rahmatullah Malik and Company said that his company had introduced software on income tax, wealth tax and sales tax.

He said that the company had 500 customers including leading chartered accountant firms.

A large number of traders, industrialists, income tax officers and members of the tax bar association visited the exhibition.

The exhibition was also visited by students.
