PESHAWAR, April 14: The city police have failed to recover Dr Inayat Roghani, associate professor of Hayatabad Medical College and brother of provincial health minister Dr Mehr Taj Roghani, who was kidnapped for ransom in Hayatabad locality on March 20.

The SSP, investigation, Akhtar Hayat Gandapur claimed on several occasion that Dr Inayat Roghani would be recovered soon, but it remained a mere claim.

Despite arresting Yar Mohammad, a notorious kidnapper from Jamrood area of the Khyber Agency and arresting several other outlaws during operations in the same area

by the political administration, no progress has been made so far.

Sources close to the Roghani family disclosed that they were in contact with the kidnappers and wanted to deal with them without police interference and that was why no FIR had been registered with the police concerned despite lapse of more than three weeks.

FIRING: Pistakhara police opened fire at a passenger van injuring its cleaner critically on the Ring road here on Friday night.

The police said, a team of Pishatkhara police had erected barricade on the Ring road for vehicle checking. They opened fire at a van (Peshawar K-6075), when it did not stop despite road-blockade.

A 15-year-old boy Mohammad Rehan, son of Mohammad Imran,  a resident of Dara Adamkhel, was injured critically after receiving bullet wounds. The  boy was rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital where his condition is stated to be out of danger.

Rehan said that the driver had stopped the van at a distance, but the police team opened fire.

Sources disclosed that head constables Izhar and Nisar were temporarily detained at the quarters guard at Pishtakhara police station under the charges of firing at the van.
