KARACHI, April 6: The establishment of an endowment fund is needed at the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) to help acquire services of specialised professionals including doctors, nurses and paramedics.

Dr Zeenat Essani, director NICH, said here on Saturday, addressing the third founding anniversary ceremony of the Oncologist Unit held under the aegis of the Child Aid Association at the institute.

Pointing out that no provision existed to accommodate staffers in specialised fields of medicine at the institute, mainly due to resource constraints, the NICH director expressed the hope that philanthropists would come forward to support the proposal.

The endowment fund, she said, besides procuring necessary gadgets would help arrange the manpower to manage and operate the system with precision.

She expressed her gratitude to the Child Aid Foundation (CAA), the Sahara Foundation and other organisations providing support to the NICH through different projects.—APP
