KARACHI, April 3: The Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) has rejected the referendum proposal by the regime and decided to launch a struggle for a secular democratic constitution in the country.

The decision was taken by the executive committee of the party in a meeting here on March 30, which was presided over by secretary-general Khadim Thaiem, said a press release of the party on Wednesday.

The communist party said the present setup in the country was unconstitutional, undemocratic and it had no right to take political decisions of far-reaching consequences.

It was of the view that as a result of a referendum, undemocratic and unconstitutional forces, backed by strong lobbies of exploitative landlords and anti-people elements, would emerge and further endanger the integrity of the country.
