KARACHI: Haqiqi man shot dead

KARACHI, April 29: An activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement was killed by unknown persons in Shah Faisal Colony on Friday. Police said Tanveer alias Kashif, 28, was kidnapped by unknown persons from Shah Faisal Colony No 1. His body was recovered from the bushes in Shah Faisal Colony No 5.

Police said the body bore multiple bullet wounds and the victim’s hands and legs were tied. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem examination.

ACCIDENTS: A taxi driver died and five others were wounded in an accident on Rashid Minhas Road on Friday. The accident involved a bus, trailer and taxi.

SHO Sharea Faisal said that a taxi (JL-4701) was sandwiched between a bus and a trailer. The speeding bus hit the cab, killing the taxi driver on the spot. His body was shifted to the Nadeem Medical Centre. His identity could not be established immediately.

The injured were travelling in the bus. They were taken to the Nadeem Medical and Darul Sehat Hospital for treatment.

The accident caused a major traffic jam during peak rush hours on the Rashid Minhas Road, which is undergoing re-carpeting.

Police said the accident occurred due to recklessness, overspeeding and apparent failure of the bus’ brakes.

In another accident, a cleaner of a water tanker died when he fell and got crushed beneath his vehicle in Surjani town.

Police said Taj Ali fell and died beneath the same vehicle he was travelling in while passing through the Khuda Ki Basti. His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
