KARACHI, April 27: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has expressed its concern over reports that the Sindh government’s transport department had allowed an increase in transport fares. The alliance has urged transporters to force the government reduce the prices of oil instead of demanding increase in fares.

In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, MPAs Nasarullah Shaji, Hameedullah Khan and Younus Barai of the MMA criticized the government for its flawed economic policies, and deplored that instead of providing relief, it was adding to people’s miseries. They appealed to transporters and government to keep people’s miseries in mind before taking any decision.

They observed that the government seemed unwilling to contain its unnecessary expenditure and curtail tax, surcharge, etc., on imported oil that could result in some relief to common man.—PPI
