KARACHI, Nov 4: Deputy chief of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Prof Ghafoor Ahmed, has claimed that America wants to destroy the nuclear capability of Pakistan under the pretext of protecting its nuclear installations.

Demanding of President Pervez Musharraf to withdraw the decision of extending support to the US policy, he asked: “Why the ongoing state repression in Indian-occupied Kashmir, Palestine and Bosnia is not called terrorism?”

Speaking at a “Jihad conference” at Gulbahar on Saturday night, where a video film was also screened on US terrorism, Prof Ghafoor said it was being propagated that “Pakistan’s nuclear capability is threatened by extremists, and practising Muslims are extremists.”

He also condemned the detention of the Jamaat chief, Qazi Husain Ahmed, and demanded that the detention order be withdrawn.

Dr Mairajul Huda said the entire nation was with the oppressed Afghan people, but Gen Pervez Musharraf had been claiming of enjoying the support of the nation on the issue.

This claimed would, however, be exposed by the general strike on Nov 9.
