KARACHI, Nov 4: Muttahida Qaumi Movement has condemned what it said are government plans aimed at forced retirement of 289 Sindh government officials.
In a statement, the MQM coordination committee said that the government was finalizing a plan to dismiss assistant commissioners and other officers belonging to the departments of excise and taxation, food and corporation, health, home, labour and transport, industry and commerce, information, local government, irrigation, social welfare and women, youth and culture.
It said that the situation had caused a great deal of anxiety among Sindh government officials and demanded of President Pervez Musharraf to take notice of the situation and order an end to the plan seeking dismissal of about 300 people.
INAUGURATION: The seventh branch of Khurshid Begum Memorial Welfare Dispensary was inaugurated at Gul-i-Rana Colony, Soldier Bazaar, on Sunday.
Deputy convener Aftab Sheikh, foundation president Sheikh Liaquat Husain, Dr Farooq Sattar and Khalid bin Walid were present on the occasion.
Aftab Sheikh said that his party believed in the service and welfare of all the communities without discrimination. He also criticized the “so-called” Jehadi organizations.
MINORITIES: MQM also continues to make efforts aimed at providing protection to the life, property and places of worship of minorities, said deputy conveners Aftab Sheikh and Nasrin Jalil during a talk with a delegation of minorities included Father Aslam Jacob Sardar and Christian Democratic Party chairman Brian N. Patras, at Nine-Zero.
POLIO: A three-day polio campaign by Khidmat-i- Khalq Foundation will begin on Nov 6.
Polio drops would be provided at central foundation’s office in Federal ‘B’ Area, Khurshid Begum welfare dispensaries, New Karachi Godhra Camp, North Karachi, Orangi Town and Soldier Bazaar.
