KARACHI, June 4: Residents of P & T Cooperating Housing Society, Sector 32-D, Korangi Town, have expressed grave concern on the emergence of industrial units and factories in their colony, particularly in Block-C / 400 yards.

They say the society is purely residential but it has turned into an industrial area with the collusion of the Society’s administration. These factories are not only causing environmental pollution but noise and smoke are endangering the health of residents.

Besides, incidents of robberies have also increased due to these factories. The women of the area face problems because of a great number of outsiders and strangers who come to these industries; it becomes difficult for them to walk on the roads with peace.

They have repeatedly approached the administration of the Society, but in vain. The Society has not provided sui gas to Block-C, despite full payment on this account.

The residents further claim that they are asked by the Society administration to leave the place if they cannot live there in the circumstances as the factory mafia is more influential having contacts with high officials.

The residents also approached the Nazim UC-4, Korangi Town in this connection, but he expressed his inability to do something against the factory mafia.

They have, therefore, appealed to the governor Sindh, the City Nazim and others concerned to take notice, shift the illegal factories to some other place and save the inhabitants of residential areas from this nuisance.—PPI
