Published March 7, 2005

ISLAMABAD, March 6: Three girls were killed while their father was injured when the roof of their house in Chirah caved in, police said on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Malika Imam, 5; Ema Imam, 3 and Ubak Imam, one-and-a half-year old.

The incident occurred when a tractor hit the house of Mr Saghir as the driver was reversing the vehicle, causing the roof to collapse. The neighbours and police rushed to the site and retrieved the inmates from the rubble. However, Malika Imam died while being shifted to the Federal Government Services Hospital whereas the other two died at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims). Mr Saghir is said to be in critical condition.
