KARACHI, March 5: The police kiosk, which was illegally constructed on the Quaid-i-Azam Mazar Management Board's land, was demolished by the board's staff on Saturday afternoon.

According to the sources, the land had been encroached upon by the police a few months back when Purani Numaish Chowrangi was redesigned. The police kiosk that was earlier established on the traffic island of Shahrah-i-Quaideen was abandoned at the time of beautification work and the new kiosk was constructed on the encroached land.

The Quaid-i-Azam Mazar Management Board had time and again approached the police to get its land vacated but in vein. However, a few weeks back the police did vacate a few of the rooms of its illegally constructed kiosk, but still kept some structures and continued to occupy the surrounding land.

Responding to Dawn queries, board's representative Mohammad Arif said that the police returned the illegally constructed kiosk to the Quaid-i-Azam Mazar Management Board on Saturday and the staff was immediately sent to demolish the illegal structure, which was subsequently razed.
