PESHAWAR, Feb 9: The Pakistan Tobacco Company and Associated Industries on Wednesday agreed to support the Save Peshawar Movement (SPM) in its effort to make Peshawar green and clean.

A three-member group of the SPM met senior officials of the PTC at its factory in Akora Khattak and Associated Industries (Pvt) Ltd at Amankot near Nowshera and sought their help and cooperation in making Peshawar green and clean.

The PTC officials agreed to provide saplings for a tree plantation campaign to be launched in Peshawar later this month. They also promised to look into other similar projects in the provincial capital.

The management of the Associated Industries, in their meeting with the SPM delegation, agreed to provide funds and consultancy for renovation and uplift of a fast emerging food street near Ghanta Ghar (clock tower) in the old part of Peshawar City. They offered full support to the SPM in connection with Pashpapura Festival in Peshawar.

Pashpapura is the ancient name of Peshawar meaning 'the city of flowers'.
