MULTAN, Feb 5: Hundreds of tenants at the Peerowal farms of the Punjab Seed Corporation came out of their houses in Khanewal on Saturday to express solidarity with the tenants of Okara military farms.

The Peerowal tenants had actually gathered to observe the Kashmir day and when they were dispersing, they learnt about the tension in Okara. Upon this, they started chanting slogans and reassembled to also block the GT Road near Khanewal.

However, their leaders urged them to wait for the outcome of the ongoing negotiations between Okara tenants and the authorities there.

Later, in the evening, the Peerowal tenants dispersed peacefully when they heard from their comrades in Okara that they had ended the blockade of GT road on the assurance of authorities that there would be no harassment in future.

Anjuman Mazareen Punjab's leaders Dr Christopher John, Aqeela Naz, Mehr Ghulam Abbas, Yousaf Khatak and Faiza Bibi addressed the protesters and vowed to keep their struggle intact for the ownership of lands they had been cultivating for generations.
