SUKKUR: Watercourses' lining begins

SUKKUR, Dec 25: Work for repair and improvement of watercourses in upper Sindh has been launched and in first phase, the work has begun in Sukkur and Khairpur districts during which 3,145 watercourses in both the districts will be repaired and improved.

This was announced by the provincial agriculture water management authorities here on Saturday.

According to the announcement, the work of repair and improvement of watercourses was inaugurated in Choondko by the chairman of the Khairpur District Public Safety Commission Ghulam Abbas Bhambhro.

The project will be completed in five years at the cost of Rs1300 millions and is aimed at saving water from going waste which would be beneficial for the growers.

The growers of Sindh have been asked to pinpoint watercourses for repair and improvement in their areas.

KILLED: A villager was shot dead by assailants on the pretext of karo-kari in Aitbar Brohi village in the Risaldar police jurisdiction near Kandhkot on Friday.

As Misri, son of Murad Bukhsh Golo, was going home, three armed men appeared on the scene, shot him dead and fled.

The Risaldar police took away the body to a Kandhkot hospital for post-mortem and later handed it over to the relatives of the deceased.

However, no case was registered till the filing of this report.
