SUKKUR, Dec 18: Bandit Shamoo Jatoi has demanded a ransom of Rs20 million for the release of kidnapped additional and session judges of Shikarpur, Abdul Wahab Abbasi and Farooq Ahmed Channa.
Sources told Dawn that bandit Bagoo Jatoi who was in the central prison-I Sukkur had contacted his nephew bandit Shamoo Jatoi for the release of judges.
So far efforts made through Bagoo Jatoi from the central jail have gone fruitless.
For the purpose, Bagoo Jatoi was shifted to central jail-II Sukkur where police officials of Sukkur, Larkana and Shikarpur district met him and provided a mobile phone to him to contact his nephew Shamoo Jatoi.
Bagoo Jatoi tried to convince his nephew for four days but Shamoo remained adamant that he would be receiving a ransom of Rs20 million for the judges' release.
The source said after that Bagoo Jatoi was shifted back to the central prison-I.
They claimed that after the failure of Bagoo Jatoi, the influential from Shikarpur and Larkana district had redoubled their efforts for the safe recovery of judges while DPOs of Jacobabad and Nawabshah were constantly in touch with them.
According to sources, this was the only way out for the police to get the judges out of the clutches of the kidnappers safely.
JAMAAT: The deputy chief of the Sindh chapter of the Jamaat-e-Islami, Mumtaz Sahito advocate, has said that the nation will not tolerate President Musharraf in uniform after Dec 31, 2004.
He said this while talking to delegations of the Jamaat and the Abadgar Board in Ghotki, Ubauro and Rahim Yar Khan on Saturday.
He said the nation wanted strong democracy in the country; therefore, they were attending the public meeting in a large number.
He said that Sindh had been subjected to lawlessness and nobody was safe in the province, even judges had been kidnapped.
He said the people wanted revolutionary changes in the country and they were coming to the platform of the MMA.
INJURED: Eight people were injured in an armed clash between Sangi and Jatoi tribes over a karo-kari dispute near Pano Akil, Sukkur district, on Saturday.
The injured - Kehar, Shahmir, Umer, Tayyab, Piyaro, Dil Jan and Majnoo - were shifted to a local hospital.
Police have arrested six people from the either side whose names could not be ascertained.
