KHAIRPUR, Dec 11: Professor Mohammad Ashraf Rajput, former principal of the Government Degree College, Pir-jo-Goth, was recovered from the captivity of dacoits after a police encounter here in the wee hours of Saturday.

Khairpur DPO Yaqoob Imran Minhas at a briefing told newsmen that on a tip off about the movement of dacoits at the Zero Point in the kutcha area, heavy police contingents comprising of three police stations, led by City ASP Javed Jiskani, surrounded the area late Friday night.

At 4am after an exchange of fire, which lasted for one hour, dacoits managed to move towards kutcha area, while police recovered the hostage from their captivity.

The DPO hoped that kidnapped trader Sikandar Selero will also be recovered soon.

WATER ROTATION: The executive engineer of the irrigation east division, Khairpur, has issued a rotation programme at channels in the irrigation division on the basis of availability of 47 per cent water shortage here on Saturday.

Te new water rotation programme is scheduled from Dec 12.

Shahnawaz Wah, Khan Wah, Sanhro Wah, DOs of Sathio Wah, Khairpur Minor, Gundera Minor, Rattar Minor, Kindyari Minor and DOs of Faiz Ganj Wah from Chang minor to RD-109 will remain closed till Dec 20.
