HYDERABAD, Nov 8: The Pakistan Botanical Society, Department of Botany, University of Sindh, in collaboration with the Pakistan Science Foundation is organizing a six-day national seminar on "New Trends in Plant Sciences" in Jamshoro on Nov 24.

Over one hundred academicians working in colleges affiliated with the universities of Pakistan will participate in the seminar.

Besides, the academic staff of the botany department, six resource persons from Lahore, Multan, Quetta and Karachi will deliver lectures in particular disciplines.

SU: Director postgraduate studies University of Sindh announced here on Monday that the last date for submission of forms has been fixed as Nov 27 for admission to M.Phil programme in environment sciences, Arabic, Sindhi, Urdu, commerce, biochemistry, botany, chemistry, pharmacy, physics, statistics, zoology, zoology, economics, health and physical education, international relations, political sciences, Pakistan studies, psychology, development studies and sociology disciplines.

SPSC: The controller of examination of the Sindh Public Service Commission here on Monday announced the names of eligible candidates who were interviewed by the commission for posts of junior scale stenographer BPS-12 in the SPSC and the local government department.

The commission found Samina Soomro (urban) and Shahida Raho (rural) for the SPSC and Arshad Saleem (urban) and Zulfiqar Chahwan (rural) for the local government department fit and recommended their names to the government for appointment against the posts.

BOOKED: As many as 63 shopkeepers were booked and a fine of Rs11,350 was recovered from them by the special judicial magistrates of the district from Nov 5 to 7 for overcharging in violation of the official rates.

According to the details eight shopkeepers were fined of Rs1,450 in the City Taluka, seven of Rs1,100 in Qasimabad taluka, forty-five of Rs7,800 in Tando Mohammad Khan taluka and three were fined of Rs1,000 in Matiari taluka.

ARMY SELECTION: The Army Selection and Recruitment Centre has announced that registration for the 115 PMA long-course and 27 graduate-course will be carried out at the Nadra Office State Life Building Hyderabad and Nadra office at Nawabshah on Nov 21 and 28, respectively.
