FAISALABAD, Nov 4: The Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) and the Inqalabi Council Faisalabad (ICF) have blamed the University of Agriculture administration for converting it into a secular institution and deliberately creating unrest among the students.
In separate statements, leaders of the two major students' organizations claimed that 26 students were expelled from the university without any cogent reason.
The claim of the university administration that the step had been taken to maintain law and order had no ground for not a single minor altercation or squabble was witnessed on the campus.
They demanded of the Punjab governor to take stock of the situation and order restoration of 26 students.
IJT Nazim Akhtar Rasool Chaudhry said that 12 students of his organization were expelled from the university because they had requested for Tafseer-i-Quran event after taraveeh prayers in the mosques of campus.
He said the IJT would continue its efforts for the promotion of Islamic culture in the educational institutions and none would be allowed to target the students to please their foreign masters.
Mr Chaudhry said that provincial IJT Nazim Nasarullah Olakh would visit Faisalabad to meet local students so that a joint line of action could be announced against the university management.
Inqalabi Council's chairman Mian Atiqur Rehman told newsmen that the educational atmosphere of the university had been ideal and cordial. But the management imposed a ban on entry of 26 students due to reasons best known to it. If there was any complaint about law and order, why it was not brought to the notice of police and other agencies concerned.
He said the previous history of the Inqalabi Council was a proof that the body had neither indulged in any illegal activity nor created panic on the campus over any issue. Therefore, he said the ban on the entry of students was uncalled for.
RESULTS: The Government College University on Thursday announced the results of LLB (evening), B.Sc (Hons) Zoology (morning) and M.Sc Zoology (evening) 2nd semester examinations 2004.
Roll numbers of the successful candidates of LLB are: 1501, 1502, 1503, 1504, 1505, 1506, 1507, 1508, 1509, 1510, 1512, 1514, 1515, 1516, 1519, 1520, 1521, 1522, 1523, 1524, 1525, 1527, 1528, 1529, 1531, 1532, 1533 and 1534.Roll numbers of the successful candidates of B.Sc (Hons) Zoology (morning) are: 951, 952, 953, 954, 955, 956, 959, 960, 961, 963, 964, 965, and 967.
While roll numbers of the successful candidates of M.Sc Zoology (evening) are: 1251, 1252, 1253, 1256, 1257, 1260.
Murder suspect: Around a dozen gunmen freed an attempted murder suspect when he was being shifted to jail on Thursday.
Reports said Constable Nawaz escorted accused Shahbaz Ahmad from the district courts to jail when the gunmen intercepted them near GTS intersection. They attacked the constable and set free the accused. The constable also sustained injuries.
Police claimed that Shahbaz was nominated in attempted murder case of Advocate Rana Mahfooz of Jaranwala tehsil.
A case has been registered against Afzal, Qamar, Javed, Iftikhar, Arshad, Yasin, Rauf, Sarfraz and their accomplices.
