Published October 8, 2001

HANGU, Oct 7: People of Kurram Agency have accused the militiamen deployed at Pakistan-Afghan border in the area of minting money by allowing Afghan refugees to enter into Pakistan.

They complained that these militiamen have started taken Rs 100 as entry fee from the refugees. They said that this would cast bad effects on the country situation in future.

They demanded of the NWFP government to take notice of this state of affairs and remove those who are taking bribe from the new refugees.

Turi Bangash Supreme Council announced this during a meeting here on Sunday. The meeting was held at the residence of President of the Council, Salman Haider and was largely attended by Bangash and Turi tribesmen.

The participants of the meeting expressed strong anger over the setting of new refugees camps in Kurram agency. They said that at one hand Tur-Bangash tribes have all along been at dragger-drawn with the Afghans and particularly with the Taliban and on the other the area has experienced worst kind of sectarian fighting several times due to the presence of huge number of refugees.

They said that the refugees are brining with them huge quantity of arms and said that this state of affairs is not acceptable to them.—NNI
