SAHIWAL: Stove blast leaves two dead

SAHIWAL, Oct 31: A woman and her grand-daughter were killed when an oil stove burst during Sahar on Sunday at Chaah Nooraywala village.

Reports said Sakeena, the mother of a labourer, was preparing meals when the kerosene stove burst due to which her and grand-daughter's clothes caught fire.

Grievously burnt, they were brought to a hospital where they could not survive.

ESCAPES: An alleged killer escaped from police lock-up here on Saturday night.

Reports said Zahid alias Sajjad, son of former district council member Rana Safdar Ali, had been gunned down at Chak 57/4-R on Oct 15. Noorshah police had registered a case against UC No 22 Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Idrees and his two grandsons - Jehangir and Shahbaz - under section 302/34 PPC and arrested the latter two. Both were locked up.

On Saturday evening, Shahbaz arranged Iftar of the SHO outside the police station from where he made his escape.
