ISLAMABAD, Oct 18: The government is examining hundreds of draft laws to reform the legal and judicial system to provide speedy justice to litigants.

This was stated by Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Chaudhry Mohammad Wasi Zafar in a meeting with Norwegian Ambassador Janis Bjorn Kanavin here on Monday.

According to a statement issued here, the two sides met to discuss matters of mutual interest, particularly judicial reforms in the civil and criminal and other laws.

The government was planning to introduce changes in both civil and criminal laws, the federal minister said.

He informed the ambassador that all measures were being taken to expedite legal proceedings. He also stressed on cementing ties between the two countries, and said the initiative taken by a Norwegian telecom company to invest about $1 billion in Pakistan would give a boost to the country's economy. He also favoured revival of Norwegian development assistance to Pakistan.
