KARACHI, Oct 2: The implementation of the MPA's priority development programme was reviewed at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh Planning and Development Minister Shoaib Bukhari on Saturday.

The officials of all district and city governments attended the meeting and briefed the minister about the uplift schemes proposed by the Sindh assembly members for their respective areas.

Mr Bukhari informed the meeting that Sindh government had released Rs976.70 million for 18,178 schemes proposed by MPAs during 2003-04.

He urged the officials to strive for timely utilization of funds, adding that a financial system had been devised whereby unutilized funds could be used in the next year.

He regretted that Rs120 million released for the city remained unutilized and, therefore, only less than 10 per cent schemes could be completed.

Mr Bukhari informed that for the fiscal year, 2004-05, Sindh government had allocated Rs840 million for MPA's priority programme, whereby each MPA could propose schemes costing Rs5 million for his or her constituency.-APP
