KARACHI, Sept 25: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the government accords top priority to the maintenance of law and order and, therefore, a strict vigil is being maintained in this regard.

Requirements of police and other law-enforcement agencies would be met so that better results could be achieved, he added.

The chief minister was speaking as chief guest at the passing out parade at the Saeedabad Police Training Centre on Saturday.

He exhorted police to respect the rights of downtrodden people and play their due role in an impartial manner. He asked them to never resort to undue favour to any particular group or community.

Police should give up the practice of humiliating people or causing inconvenience to them. Instead, they must serve their cause without any discrimination.

He announced that Sindh government would consider granting a raise in salaries to police and also solve their problems relating to housing, training, uniform, transport, etc.

The chief minister announced construction of the centre's boundary wall and flooring, as well as installation of another PMT by the KESC. He also announced that a scanning machine would be installed at the mian gate of the centre.-APP
