KARACHI, Sept 11: District and Sessions Judge East Zafar Ahmed Khan Sherwani on Saturday adjourned the hearing of Mir Murtuza Bhutto murder case against ex-Senator Asif Ali Zardari and others after recording statement of witness.

Najeeb Ahmed, a journalist, who reached the spot after the firing incident, recorded his statement. He was cross-examined by two defence counsel.

The court, which is conducting trial in central jail Karachi, fixed Oct 2 for completing cross-examination on witness by defence counsel. Asif Zardari, spouse of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, was not produced before the court.

Murtaza Bhutto was killed along with six others, including his close aide Ashiq Jatoi, in September 1996 near his residence in Clifton, Karachi, in an alleged shootout.

Asif Zardari, Shoaib Suddle, Wajid Durrani, Masood Sharif, Shahid Hiyat, Rai Mohammed Tahir, Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani, Agha Mohammed Jameel, and others are accused.-PPI
