KARACHI: Four die in accidents

KARACHI, Sept 11: Four people died in different road accidents in the city on Saturday. A man was hit by Ilyas Coach in Quaidabad. He died on the spot. He was identified as Noor Mohammad, 27. The driver fled the scene leaving the vehicle behind.

Unknown vehicles hit Mohammad Afzal in Korangi and Ramzan in Sukkan. The two men died on the spot and were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy.

In another accident, an unknown man died in a hit-and-run accident on the Super Highway in Gadap. The body was sent to a hospital for autopsy.

SHOOTOUT: An alleged robber was shot at and wounded in Gulbai on Saturday.

Police said two men snatched Rs10,000 from Ashiq Hussain at gunpoint and fled.

Ashiq told two policemen on a motorbike about the incident. The policemen chased the robbers, who fired back at the policemen. They returned fire causing bullet wounds to a suspect, who was later identified as Iqbal Rasheed. A TT pistol and the looted cash was seized from him. His alleged accomplice, Sikandar, escaped.

BODY FOUND: Police found the body of a youth along a road in Samanabad.

Police said a man was found with bullet wounds. The police took him to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

He was identified as Akhtar Abbasi, 25, resident of Nusrat Bhutto Colony. Area people said that three men on a motorbike pulled up near Shafique Mor, and two of them fled and their third colleague fell on the ground.

The police were investigating the killing.
