KARACHI, Aug 14: Chief Secretary Aslam Sanjrani has directed administrative heads of all provincial departments to respond to public complaints promptly and take measures to provide them relief.

He issued the directive while talking to delegations coming from a cross section of society here on Saturday. They drew his attention to the problems of traffic jams, overcrowded public transport during peak hours, garbage dumps around different schools, etc.

Besides asking secretaries to look into the grievances, the chief secretary assured the delegations that due attention would be paid to resolve their problems at the earliest.

Regarding traffic hazards, Mr Sanjrani pointed out that after completion of the ongoing mega projects, like Lyari Expressway, by-pass and flyovers, pressure on all major thoroughfares would definitely ease and complaints of traffic jams would come down remarkably.

He said that construction work of FTC flyover was near completion and the flow of traffic between Korangi Road and Sharea Faisal would improve soon. Similarly, he added, the work on broadening of nine-km-long road linking Landhi and Quaidabad with Korangi crossing along the National Highway was in full swing.

Mr Sanjrani further told the delegation that the work on dualization of the road between National Stadium and Sharea Faisal via Karsaz, as well as reconstruction of another road between the stadium and Drive-in Cinema, was also near completion.

The Shahrah-i-Quaideen flyover would be completed by February next year, he added. Regarding other complaints, the chief secretary directed transport secretary to look into the problems of overloading, rash driving, and over speeding, especially by drivers of public transport, which posed a serious and constant threat to the lives of commuters and pedestrians.
