BADIN, July 3: The district council on Saturday passed its annual budget with total expenditures of Rs1682.144 million. Naib Nazim Mirza Sohail Akbar presided over the council session.

According to the budget document distributed among members, an amount of Rs1364.335 has been allocated for non-development schemes.

It was stated in the document that Rs285 million had been earmarked for development schemes.

The budget document mentioned no details of heads of expenditure.

There were also no details of expenditure on the construction of roads, health or any other heads.

When women councillors wanted to discuss the budget, they were not allowed. On this, they staged a token walkout.

Earlier, District Nazim Kamal Chang presented the budget.

PROTEST: The newsmen have criticized the district government authorities for preventing them from attending the district council budget session on Saturday.
