GUJRAT, May 15: An anti-terrorism court of Gujranwala on Saturday granted bail to the secretary-general of the Gujrat Bar Association.

Gujrat Saddar police had registered a case against advocate Raja Rasheed Jaral and 355 others for taking out a procession on May 11 to welcome PML-N leader Mian Shahbaz Sharif.

The procession was intercepted over Chenab Bridge where the participants were dispersed after a massive baton charge.

The members of the Gujrat Bar observed strike against the police on Thursday while their colleagues in Kharian and Sarai Alamgir joined hands on Friday.

The ATC had on Friday had sent Mr Jaral to jail and turned down the request to remand him in police custody.

Meanwhile, members of the Gujrat, Kharian and Sarai Alamgir Bar associations observed a black day on Saturday.

SHOT DEAD: An ice seller was shot dead by some unidentified men near Domail colony in Jalalpur Jattan on Saturday.

The motive behind the killing could not be known.

Reports said that Ghulam Shabbir Butt was going to an ice factory on his donkey cart when some unidentified men shot him dead.

Police sent the body to mortuary for autopsy.

No case was registered till the filling of this report.
