SUKKUR, March 27: Six people were kidnapped and one was injured in a row between two groups in Jamia Qubbo Pull, Shikarpur district, on Saturday.

Rahim Bux Soomro, Haji Noor Soomro, Zawar Jan Mohammad and Rajab Ali Soomro were kidnapped when they were going to Shikarpur from Mehmoodabad in a pickup.

The kidnappers took them towards the Jumman Sakhir forest.

As the news of their kidnapping reached their village, some Soomro clansmen kidnapped Iqbal Jatoi and Budhal Jatoi in retaliation.

The two groups also exchanged fire as a result one passerby, Ehsan Bhayo, was injured.

Shikarpur DPO negotiated with the elders of the two groups and convinced them to stop firing and release the hostages which they did.

An old enmity between the two groups was said to be the motive behind the kidnappings.

KILLED: A man was killed in Bago Phulpoto village near Pir-Jo-Goth, Khairpur district, on Friday.

Panjal, son of Maula Bukhsh Phulpoto, was gunned down by Mahram Phulpoto and his son Iqbal over a matrimonial dispute.

Maula Bux Phulpoto lodged a case against the two accused.

INJURED: Five people, including two policemen, were injured in an armed clash between the police and villagers in Nawab Chachar village near Buxapur on Saturday.

The police had gone there to investigate into a dispute between two rival groups.

When the police started house-to-house search, the armed villagers stopped them from doing so.

After an exchange of hot words, an encounter started which lasted for an hour as a result five people, including two policemen, were injured.

Those injured included Qadir Chachar, Noor Hussain Chachar, Mohammad Ali Chachar, constable Ali Murad Jakhrani and constable Ahmed Jakhrani.

A case against 35 villagers was registered with the Buxapur police.
