Confusion over manifesto

Published March 28, 2004

COLOMBO, March 27: Much confusion abounds within the main opposition party, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) regarding a reprint of the election manifesto of the Alliance.

The ruling United National Front was last week accused by the Alliance of attempting to 'sling mud' at the party by printing a second election manifesto.

In a press interview on Friday the jvp general secretary admitted that a second manifesto was printed in the form of a 'work plan'.

The clauses pertaining to the peace process and agriculture have been changed, while thirty development projects initially mentioned in the first manifesto released last month were removed.
