KARACHI, March 13: The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Torkel Patterson, accompanied by the Consul General, Douglas C. Rohn, called on Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad at Governor's House and discussed various affairs of mutual interest.

They exchanged views on law and order situation and economic matters.

The US dignitaries observed that an improvement in law and order was visible.

Dr Ibad pointed out that the improved situation was highlighted by the positive tendencies in different sectors, including indicators of the stock exchange.

He said the province was on the way to prosperity in all sectors due to good governance. He observed that earlier, investors had been trying to wind up their businesses but now, the situation had changed.

UNICEF: A Unicef delegation, led by its provincial chief Ra'ana Syed, called on Governor Ishratul Ibad at Governor's House the other day and briefed him about the ongoing Unicef projects in the health and education sectors.

The governor praised the cooperation extended by UNICEF, particularly with regard to the anti-polio drive.

Dr Ibad pointed out that efforts against polio were gaining success in the province and claimed that Sindh was doing better than other provinces of the country in this regard as acknowledged in an international survey. -PPI
