GUJRAT, March 6: The Gujrat Bar Association lawyers took out a protest rally from the Kutchery Bar Room to the Sessions Bar Room on Saturday, demanding suspension from service of the district police officer.

The local bar had passed a requisition against DPO Raja Munawar Husain due to his alleged misbehaviour with a senior lawyer, Chaudhry Gulraiz Warraich, some months ago.

The rally participants, holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the DPO, were led by bar president Tariq Javed Chaudhry.

The bar president said the provincial and district governments would have to give up support for the DPO, otherwise lawyers would take out a big protest rally on March 9.

SHOT DEAD: A former serviceman shot dead his wife and her paramour over suspicion at Chak Jhumat Ranjha locality of Jalalpur Jattan on Saturday.

Reports said the woman had developed illicit relations with Jamshed Iqbal. Her husband became infuriated and shot the two dead and courted arrest.

Jalalpur Jattan Saddar police have registered a case.
