SANGHAR, Feb 28: A Pakistani national is languishing in an Indian jail for the last 26 years, it was learnt by this correspondent here on Friday through a reliable source.

Dilawar, the son of the prisoner, Sadiq Rajar, resident of Chotiariyoon village, Sanghar taluka, said his father was arrested on May 31, 1978, and awarded life imprisonment by the Jodhpur additional district and sessions judge on Sept 24, 1979.

He said his father had served the imprisonment term at the Jaipur central jail but was not released due to the apathy of the officials concerned.

He said he had sent applications to Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhra Rajese, human rights organizations as well as the Pakistan government but to no avail.

Dilawar has appealed to President General Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali, the Indian prime minister, Human Rights Commissions of Pakistan and India and non-government organizations to assist him in getting his father released.
