LARKANA, Feb 7: Five Awam Dost Panel Nazims, 15 councillors and 30 influential men of Kambar taluka on Saturday staged a rally in favour of Pakistan Muslim League leader, Nawab Shabir Ahmed Chandio.

They gathered at the main chowk of the town and marched towards the residence of Mr Chandio on the Larkana road.

They expressed full confidence in his leadership and announced to join the PML-Q.

Those joined the party included Nazim union council-2 Kambar town Raees Khuda Bakhsh Mangi, Nazim UC Kalar Liaquat Mugheri, Noor Ahmed Brohi, Atta Mohammed Kartiyo, Roshan Brohi, Naib Nazims of union council Kambar, Kalar and Bohar, respectively.

PPP-SB Kambar president Rasool Bakhsh Brohi was among those who joined the PML-Q.

Fifteen councillors who joined the party included Mustafa Buledi, Imamuddain Chandio, Akbar Brohi, Haider Bakhsh Brohi, Mehboob Dayo and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chandio rejected the claims of PPP that his joining of the PML-Q would cast no shadow on the party. He said his friends had joined the PML-Q and strengthened it in the center of PPP.

He claimed that the PPP was changing the provincial leadership so as to activate the party, adding that earlier the party was silent over making any changes.

CPSP: The second basic medical science course for FCPS-I ended here on Saturday at the Chandka Medical College Teaching Hospital.

Prof Sikandar Shaikh, the regional director of college of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), Larkana chapter, inaugurated the course held under the auspices of CPSP Larkana center where candidates from all over the upper Sindh participated.

CMC principal Prof Noor Ahmed Channa presided over the concluding session of the post-graduation course.

He said political activities had eclipsed the academic activities at the college.

He eulogised the efforts of regional director CPSP called for arranging more such course to boost the academic atmosphere at the CMC.

Lt Col Idress Farooque Butt, Prof Essa Abdulllah, Prof Hamid Jawed Qureshi, Brig Sadat Ali Khan, Prof S. M. Alam, Prof Sirjudaula, Prof Qamaruddain Barkzai, Prof Mohammed Roshan and Prof Faiz Mohammed Shaikh delivered their lectures during the course.

Certificates and cash prizes were distributed among the fellow of CPSP and members of the teaching faculty.

WATERCOURSES: District coordination officer Dr Badar Ujjan has said the Sindh government has given permission to undertake the work of strengthening irrigation watercourses in the province.

Speaking at an open Kutcheri held in Karamullah Chandio village on Friday some kilometres off here, he invited farmers to prepare plans with a donation of 10 per cent of the amount as the government would bear the rest of the expenses. It would go a long way in increasing the life of the channels besides curbing wastage of water, he added.
